Everything began back in February while drinking beer together with my brother in law, we decided to sign up for the Chicago Triathalon, not the Sprint, but the Olympic distance :-0
I took it very seriously, starting in February, I began my training composed mainly of swimming and running. Later, I transitioned into swimming in the Lake Michigan, which was probably the best preparation what I encountered during the actual TRI (very windy conditions brought choppy and distorted waves forcing a lot of people getting pulled out by lifeguards). My weakest point was the bike ride with not enough training, I was still able to pull 1:30hr (40k). I managed to do a practice 1/2 and full triathalon before the actual race. Well, not a race exactly, more of an accomplishment. I was very happy to finish my first TRI with a pretty good rating. I was also happy to see my family and friends at the race day.
