ARTICLE ON PHYSORG.COM
The article describes a novel promising way of testing for bacterial contamination using antibacterial peptides derived from African frog. These peptides, integrated into a chip, give away an electric signal in the presence of any bacterial contaminants. This is a fast and effective method of detection that can replace currently used horseshoe crab blood cells (which requires animal sacrifice leading to a decrease of specie and affects linked food chain in the ecosystem).
