Kayaking Lake Michigan

Last Saturday was the first time I took my kayak out. It also opened a season, because (hopefully) the weather will remain somewhat comfortable and water temperature will rise gradually. On Saturday, the air temperature was 46ºF with winds up to 20mph and the water temperature was 42ºF, still not comfortable, but the wetsuit did its job.

  1. Hey there; nice post. As a fellow 10.4 owner, I was wondering if you've made any mods to your 'yak, or if you've had any ideas future improvements. I've considered a perimeter line, maybe some extra rigging. Just wanted to know if you've had any thoughts on this. Enjoy the water. :)

  2. Hey there,
No, I did not do any modifications to it. I know taller people made some modifications by moving footrest further to get more leg room. Right now I am not going for any modifications. I really like it the way it is. Rather, I will adjust my standards to the kayak :)

  3. In a previous post, you mentioned further reviewing some of the features of this boat you covered in your original review. I was wondering if you've already posted those reviews, and if not, if you were planning to do so. You're info would be of much help and greatly appreciated. I've been shopping for a kayak and I've eliminated most of the options, this is one of three still on the list. Thanks, Danny.

    1. Hey there,
Glad you liked these posts. Did you check out the detailed description of the kayak at http://t-w-a.blogspot.com/2011/03/equinox-104-kayak.html
I took it out last season a few times and I must say that I am very happy with the overall stability, speed, and comfort. I do need to get a skirt for it as I enjoy cruising on less stable water. If you want to save money, but still get a good kayak, go for this one.
